Managing Conflict, Mediating Difference Symposium in Oct.
On October 21, the Office of the Ombudsperson will host a symposium focuses on the conflict resolution and communication skills and practices that help bring people together. In this time of political and social unrest and activism, it is important to support the grassroots efforts that uplift individuals and their communities who are working for unity and equity.
The program will focus on ways to nurture a professional community of people interested in the intersection of conflict resolution, restorative justice, and contemplative practices. Our goal is to provide education to current and prospective community mediators, clinicians, educators and related practitioners. Historically, the Georgia State University Annual Conflict Resolution Sympoisum (hosted by the Office of the Ombudsperson) has created a space of coming together in honor of Conflict Resolution Day. So, it is appropriate that this tradition is celebrated with this year’s theme: “Come Together: Managing Conflict, Mediating Difference.” We are excited that the 6th Annual Symposium will provide another opportunity for mentoring and networking among college and university students, staff, faculty as well as new and seasoned practitioners.
We expect the day will spark ideas and suggestions for engaging in ways that facilitate positive change for Georgia State University members and the broader Atlanta community.
The cost of participating is free for the first 25 GSU faculty, staff or students to register. Please call 413-2514 to receive a promo code prior to registering.
