Meet Claire Higgins Mortomn
Position: Assistant Director – Career Advancement Center
Current Department/Unit: Robinson College of Business
Length of GSU Employment: Joined CAC 2 years ago, was with RCB for several years in the World Affairs Council prior.
Favorite Part of Working at GSU: Her favorite part about working at GSU is supporting the growth of our incredible students and getting them ready to face the challenges of life after college. She also thinks it’s great working with amazing colleagues who are also dedicated to educating and fostering the full potential of GSU students.
Guilty Pleasure/Fun Fact(s) about them: Getting sucked into a good novel and staying up too late reading. If she could, Clare would go swimming every day and she likes bringing out the “good china” occasionally, for a family dinner.
Three Words to Describe Them: Conscientious. Collaborative. Caring.
Something That We Want to Acknowledge About Them – recent accomplishment, positivity, collaboration, etc.
Clare is a wonderful teammate who anticipates needs and follows through. In addition to regularly performs essential functions that keep the engine of the CAC running, she goes the extra mile to help others, but she doesn’t seek center-stage moments or attention. Clare epitomizes the intention of an ‘unsung hero’ award.
Examples from her CAC colleagues include….
· I’ve observed is her work on updates to student records with VMock so that we can get accurate reporting and more effectively drive students to that tool.
· Clare has done extraordinary work to support Signature programs including RISE, PIP, and worked with our vendor PeopleGrove to support Mentoring.
· Clare is determined and willing to track down details to solve problems. She regularly conducts research, participates in webinars, and attends meetings until she receives a satisfactory answer.
